NJ Poké to open second location in Toms River in 2022

The new year will bring a new restaurant to The Shoppes at Hooper, a growing plaza in the Silverton section of Toms River.

NJ Poké, which opened in Point Pleasant Beach in 2019 and Point Pleasant Borough in 2020, will open in early 2022, co-owner Tom Kerr said. He and his business partner, Ryan Gripp, hope to open the restaurant in February.

Excavator Falls On Top Of Vehicle In Toms River, No Injuries

TOMS RIVER – Imagine this if you will. You’re driving down a busy road during the evening rush. You stop at the traffic light like you’re supposed to when all of a sudden, an excavator lands on top of your vehicle. That’s exactly what happened to one man who is lucky to be alive.

Toms River Township Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina confirmed to Jersey Shore Online that units were called to the intersection of Whitesville Road and Route 70 on December 8 for a motor vehicle accident. However, it was one for the books.

A user named Doug Easterly was able to snag some pics of “Cathy’s Diner and Bakery” that’s coming to Route 166.

Toms River Student Develops Beekeeping YouTube Channel

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Katie Culbert is the bee’s knees.

Last year, as a freshman at High School North, Culbert won first place among all ninth graders at the Delaware Valley Science Fair for her project on breakthroughs in honey bee health. She was then able to compete in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, the world’s largest science competition for high school students, according to a report from Toms River schools.

Toms River North to name auditorium after Nobel Prize winning graduate, Maria Ressa

Toms River North High School will name their auditorium after their Nobel Prize winning graduate, Maria Ressa. The Board of Education unanimously passed the resolution for the renaming, as well as for naming another building for former superintendent Albert J. Dietrich.

Ressa, Class of ’82, is an internationally renowned journalist and co-founder of the website Rappler.com, an online news site based in the Philippines. She also attended Princeton University.
