Warm weather has arrived and many of the ice cream shops in Ocean County are open and ready to serve you.

You’re never far away from good homemade ice cream on the Jersey Shore.

Sure, you can go to the commercial shops like Mister Softee, Carvel, and Dairy Queen, they’re yummy too. But why not venture out and try the other local shops who make their own inventive homemade flavors of this cold creamy treat?

It’s been called bougie. It’s been called exotic because of its challenging flavors offered. It’s Nicholas Creamery, an ice cream joint that prides itself on making everything from scratch, right there.

They’ve only been around since 2018 and there are four locations in Monmouth County. Those are Atlantic Highlands, Tinton Falls, Long Branch and Fair Haven.

Starting Friday, May 26 there’s going to be a fifth. And is there a better way to kick off a Memorial Day weekend than a new ice cream joint that specializes in small-batch and seasonal flavors?

On a nice summer evening, there are some really sweet ice cream and Italian ice shops in Ocean County and Monmouth County that are truly go to spots for a heavenly treat.

For the most part, when I got out, I want to try some out of the box type ice cream flavors, stuff you don’t normally see out there.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever had a foot-long sub sandwich and polished off the whole thing.  Everyone has at some point right?  Keeping that in mind, why can’t we do the exact same thing with dessert?  There’s a place in New Jersey that serves up a foot-tall ice cream cone. Come on sport, I know you have it in ya.

I still eat ice cream in the winter.  Do you?  In fact, I think it is better than eating it on a hot summer day because you don’t have the melt factor.  That comes in clutch when you are eating a foot-tall ice cream cone.  Yep, twelve inches of ice cream scooped on top of each other with any flavor combo that tickles your fancy.

It’s a busy time for openings in Monmouth County.

This news, however, is extra sweet.

Well, this may be one of the gnarliest ice cream flavors I’ve ever heard of, and thanks to a company in New York we could see it soon here in New Jersey.

A study that just came out purports to determine the favorite flavors of ice cream and milkshakes in each state. The way it determined that was by culling through the major search engines to find out which flavors people were seeking out. They chose 20 flavors to see which one were searched for the most.
