Taco-Tastic, a Mexican restaurant that started with one store in Toms River in 2017, is now preparing to open their fifth location, this one in Brick.

In addition to their original location, there is another one in Toms River as well, in Lanoka Harbor and on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk.

8 Toms River Intermediate Students Headed To Regional Science Fair

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Eight Toms River Regional intermediate school students will be competing at the Delaware Valley Science Fair this week, after they were honored at the Jersey Shore Science Fair in March.

A total of 15 students received awards at the Jersey Shore Science Fair, held at Stockton University on March 18, presenting research in a variety of STEM programs.

The Delaware Valley Science Fair, at Drexel University, begins Tuesday.

If you’re looking to get out and try golf, the best advice is to get to a driving range and practice before you hit the links. The best idea is to find a local pro and take some lessons, whether you’re a beginner or just haven’t played in a while. This is the time of year to get your game in shape for the season ahead.

I got out last week and wasn’t too embarrassed but I also knew I had to hit the range for several buckets of balls to practice. There are some great resources out there to get started or get your game in shape or learn to play.

Seaside Heights’ annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held April 2

 Kids can meet the Easter Bunny and win one of thousands of prizes in the borough’s annual Easter Egg Hunt on the beach and boardwalk, set to start at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 2.

Thousands of brightly colored eggs will be buried in the sand for children to find; the eggs contain prizes from Seaside Heights businesses, including coupons for free arcade play and boardwalk games.

Roncin Named Patriot League Player of the Week

After batting .571 and helping lead the Boston University softball team to three wins, junior Kayla Roncin has earned Patriot League Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Toms River, New Jersey, native went 8-of-14 with eight RBIs, five runs and three stolen bases to earn her second recognition of the season and fifth over the last two seasons.

Roncin started off 3-of-4 with four RBIs and two runs in a 13-0 (5) win over Yale. After collecting a single and run in the rematch, she hit a grand slam homer at Merrimack in a 9-0 (5) victory and added two more hits to complete the sweep, 2-0.

Cars up, suds spreading on vehicles for drivers heading through Toms River.

The car wash chain spreading suds on cars across the nation is expanding across New Jersey.

In Toms River specifically, there will be two locations coming soon: one on Route 37 West and the other in the place of some trees and brush on Fischer Boulevard next to the McDonald’s.

‘Made me a better person’: How Toms River one-week COVID food giveaway became permanent

TOMS RIVER – It was planned as a one-week program to help get food to residents thrown out of work by the coronavirus pandemic.

But three years later, on a raw, drizzly Friday, a group of volunteers gathered at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River — as they do every week — to give out food. Toms River’s free good giveaway has not missed a week since March 2020, and now it’s poised to become permanent, as a member pantry of food bank Fulfill.

“To me, honestly, you get a lot more out of this than you give,” said former Toms River Councilman Terrance Turnbach, who has been there from the start. “I shows me what community is all about. I think it’s the essence of what community is all about.”

Nearly $25,000 has been raised in this GoFundMe campaign for Thomas Spadaro, 55, who suffered an accidental gunshot to the head when he was 11 years old, the campaign says.

Spadaro needs a new or used accessible van to improve his quality of life, the page says.

Gus Romano, the page’s organizer, wrote: “Many of you know Thomas Spadaro & the traumatic, life-altering injury he suffered on March 15th, 1979 in Toms River NJ when he was 11 years old.
