New Jersey on Saturday reported another 1,717 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 23 more confirmed deaths as the statewide transmission rate continued to decrease, a sign the outbreak is shrinking for now.
New Jersey’s statewide rate of transmission dropped again to 0.91 Saturday from 0.92 Friday. It was 0.94 on Thursday. A transmission rate below 1 indicates that each infected person is passing the virus to less than one other person, which causes case numbers to drop.
