In my opinion, this would be the perfect spot for Trader Joe’s in Toms River.

It’s a Toms River address 9 Flint Road. But, I think of it in the South Toms River section. But, it would be the perfect location for Toms River residents and Beachwood, Pine Beach, and Bayville residents and we wouldn’t have to drive to Brick to get to a Trader Joe’s.

The building was once home to a motorcycle shop or bike shop and I believe it was once Amish Furniture if I’m not mistaken. The building is for sale.

Boys basketball: McKelvey scores game winner as Toms River East edges Barnegat

Sophomore Jason McKelvey sank the game-winning basket with four seconds left to help lift Toms River East to a 46-54 win over Barnegat in Toms River.

Junior Dylan Russell, was was marked by two defenders, found McKelvey under the basket for a quick moment uncovered, resulting in an easy layup for Toms River East (1-3) for their first victory of the season.

Toms River Lit Up For the Holiday Season

TOMS RIVER – The yuletide season returned to the township with the community’s annual tree lighting which featured fun, food, music and a visit from the Kringles.

Live entertainment included a variety of musical performances culminating with the illumination of the large tree in front of Town Hall on Washington Street and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. They traded in a sleigh for a Toms River Fire Co. # 1 fire truck. The Kringle couple helped light the tree and had their photos taken with children.

Paving Repairs To Close Old Freehold Road In Toms River

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A section of Old Freehold Road that had to be opened last week to repair a broken water main will be closed overnight this week for road repairs, officials announced.

SUEZ water and its contractor will be milling and paving Old Freehold Road at Mulberry Place, weather permitting, overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the company said.

TOMS RIVER — To Debbie Gallo, an English and special education at High School East, the importance of having children read books with diverse characters became clear when she saw the difference it made to her students.

“Many of my children struggle with reading comprehension skills,” Gallo told the Toms River Regional Board of Education at the board’s December meeting, urging them to approve the state’s new health and physical education curriculum. “As new books with diverse characters came into the curriculum, I got to see a spark, a light in those children’s eyes, that I rarely saw before.”

Toms River planners approve twin, 10-story apartment towers for downtown

TOMS RIVER — Downtown redevelopment took a huge step forward late Wednesday night, when the planning board unanimously approved plans to build two, 10-story apartment towers at the former Red Carpet Inn site.

The board’s action gave another big boost to Capodagli Property Co.’s plans to construct 285 apartment units, a two-level riverfront boardwalk, along with a restaurant, coffee shop, and a “doggie day care” in 16,000-square-feet of retail space.
