We were from Madison and my family was considering moving down to the Jersey Shore, somewhere in Ocean County. This particular summer Mom and Dad would often drive down and visit some of the new housing developments that were popping up all over Ocean County. Let’s face it much of the housing boom was unique in the mid-’70s here at the Shore. I remember driving dirt roads to see new developments. So it was a new area with much to see.

As summer is winding down I was driving along Route 37, while heading to Seaside Heights, when I noticed that the former 7-11 on Route 37 at Fischer Blvd remains dark with no new tenant.

This is prime real estate along one of the busiest roads in Toms River. Seems a shame to not have a popular business in this location. If there is a plan for the former 7-11 site,

New Jersey beaches suddenly becoming tent cities (Opinion)

in Toms River News

It used to be that if somebody had a small baby or small children that they wanted to take to the beach they would bring a modest tent-like structure. The little ones could take a nap and their delicate skin could be protected from the sun. That’s a very good idea.

Now it’s everybody and his brother and sister and brother-in-law and cousin and roommate from college living under a tent for the day at Jersey beaches. We usually don’t spend more than an hour or two on the beach and it really doesn’t bother us, but some people complain about the lack of adequate space and/or blocking the view of the ocean with all these people with tents.

The VMAs were pretty amazing last night! The Prudential Center was literally crawling with celebrities.  Everywhere you looked there was a limo, a red carpet moment, and you just felt the ‘big energy’ in the air.  I’m super nosey so I was watching all the behind the scenes stuff and it is pretty cool what you can learn being a fly on the wall.
