Sea Hear Now 2022 review: Stevie Nicks unleashes ‘fairytale’ rock dominance

in Toms River Events

As the ocean breeze fluttered the scarves and chains dangling from her microphone stand, Stevie Nicks gazed out over the immense crowd — some 30,000 strong stretched a quarter-mile down the beach, a vision of late-summer Jersey Shore serenity — and described the scene as only she might: “a fairytale.”

The sprawling Sea Hear Now festival kicked off its fourth year in Asbury Park Saturday, and as droves of fans flooded the sand north of historic Convention Hall and nearby Bradley Park, it was clear New Jersey’s largest homegrown rock and pop music festival has successfully cultivated its own mystique and atmosphere (or brand recognition, if you’re cynical) — a sense of singularity and destination no amount of money can buy.

While I cannot speak to the strain put on the city to assist in policing and organizing such an event, from within the festival walls Sea Hear Now again appeared as a resounding victory for production company C3 Presents, who put on the fest — as well as the much larger Lollapalooza in Chicago and Austin City Limits in Austin — in partnership with Danny Clinch, the Toms River-native rock photographer, best known as Bruce Springsteen’s personal picture man.

Still Waiting, Here’s What You Want in this Toms River, NJ Shopping Center

in Toms River News

This location in the Toms River Shopping Center at Kohl’s plaza has been empty for quite a while and we got so many responses on what you’d like to see there.

The building and business is definitely shaped like a supermarket because that’s what it was at one time. I remember that the supermarket was so busy all the time, it was sad when it closed. What type of business would be a good fit for the Toms River Shopping Center?

It’s a giant store and there is so much you could do for this location. There’s a lot of traffic and it’s right off of 37 and the Garden State Parkway entrance is. It’s the perfect location for something great for Toms River and surrounding areas.

Water Main Project To Begin On Route 9

in Toms River News

TOMS RIVER – About 2 miles of water main on Route 9 in Toms River will be replaced. The project will begin tonight, September 12, weather permitting.

Veolia said the replacement will provide local businesses and residential customers with improved water quality and reliable water service.

“The opportunity to renew the water main presented itself when the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) advised us about its plans to rehabilitate the well-traveled Route 9 corridor,” Senior Director of Operations Jim Mastrokalos said. “Recognizing that the water infrastructure from Indian Head Road to Route 70 has reached the end of its useful life, Veolia has coordinated its work with the NJDOT project.”

We started at the Beachcomber Restaurant and Bar in Seaside Heights where the tickets were being sold. Each ticket got you a slice at each of the many pizzerias across the crawl including Maruca’s Tomato PiesGeorges PizzaThe Sawmill, and Shore Slice on the North end, the home of the Jersey Devil pizza.

Among the many crawlers was actor Joseph D’Onofrio who among his many roles, played young Tommy in Goodfellas, Bronx Tale and is currently in Power Book III Raising Kanan.
