Frazier gives back … and happily gets lit up on mound

in Toms River News

Sixty miles from Citizens Bank Park, the night after the Astros combined for a no-hitter in Game 4 of the World Series, two-time MLB All-Star Todd Frazier took the mound himself at The RWJBarnabas Health Field of Dreams.

Unfortunately for Frazier, pitching in his namesake Special Needs Baseball League, any chance he had at a no-hit bid was squashed after the first batter. He didn’t mind, though.

“I got knocked around twice. They were seeing the ball so well on me,” Frazier said. “Underhand or overhand, these balls were being crushed.”

A Fantastic Christmas Lights Display Returns to Toms River, New Jersey

in Toms River News

It’s always fun to talk Christmas and we are closing in on Thanksgiving, so it’s a very festive time of year. Christmas lights displays are always a big draw and people love to go and see these displays every winter. It’s even better when the displays are close to home and only a short ride to go and see.

It is amazing to me when you see beautiful light displays right in your neighborhood. The time, effort, and patience to put together these Christmas lights displays are amazing. I like to put a low-key Christmas display out for our home, so maybe that’s why it’s so amazing to see these homes that really go the extra mile to share their display with the community and neighbors.

I also think with all the “negativity” we have seen since the Pandemic, we can all you a beautiful Christmas display to enjoy this holiday season.

The hawk stuck in the Toms River library is now gone for good, the library hopes

in Toms River News

TOMS RIVER − It nearly came down to a live pigeon wearing a bulletproof-like vest to convince the hawk that had taken up residence at the Toms River Library Oct. 24 to finally take flight.

That was one of the last-ditch options Bob Glass, a master falconer, thought of trying after spending several days along with other avian and wildlife experts attempting to capture the bird. The pigeon vest employs filament loops to snag hawks and other birds of prey by the talons while leaving the secured pigeon, a preferred meal, unharmed.

Instead of the pigeon, it was the library facilities and administrative staff that finally drew the recalcitrant raptor out from its hiding place within the second-floor drop ceiling.

in Toms River News

Obviously, if you have listened to our morning show for any time now, you know that I love my coffee and have for years now while waking up folks in Ocean County. I like my coffee really simple, black. No cream, no sugar, no nothing. Just good plain coffee. So anytime I can talk about coffee and then throw in some good food, it’s a “win-win” for sure.

This article puts together the best coffee shops and cafes together and was featured in an article from Best of NJ.com. Combining good food, atmosphere, and coffee together. Good news for us, two of the Cafes in the Best of NJ.com survey are located right here in Ocean County.

According to the article, one is located on Long Beach Island, and one is located in Toms River. On Long Beach Island there is How You Brewin’. This shop actually has two locations on LBI. One is in Surf City and one in Barnegat Light. According to Best of NJ “Open year-round, they serve a perfect blend of popular favorites and original concoctions; the Best of NJ crew’s personal coffee picks here are Almond Biscotti, Banana Nut Bread, and Coffee Cake. But they always offer new special blends every month. Meanwhile, the food menu includes bagels, pastries, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and more.”

Toys ‘R’ Us is Back In Time For Christmas at the Jersey Shore

in Toms River News

Toys ‘R’ Us closed in Toms River and surrounding stores in New Jersey and everywhere after filing bankruptcy in 2017 and closing all stores in 2018.

Toys ‘R’ Us did team up with Macy’s last summer to sell the Toys ‘R’ Us brand online only.

I think we all felt sad when Toys ‘R’ Us closed. I have not been to Toys ‘R’ Us for years before it closed, but it’s the memories of going to a giant toy store when we were younger, it was all we needed.

in Toms River News

Either it’s deliciously wonderful or it’s not. Sushi is a “huge” fan favorite.

I have to be honest, it is not something I eat, but I have friends that love it. They tell me where the “best” Sushi is and if they like the restaurant where they serve it. It has to be fresh. Fresh is key to delicious Sushi.

Sushi is the most famous Japanese dish outside of Japan and one of the most popular dishes among the Japanese. My partner in the morning, Shawn loves Sushi. His favorite Sushi is the Spicy Crab.
