Get ready to smoke up Ocean County, and of course, I’m talking about ribs, pork, and brisket!

Jersey has a delicious barbecue scene, which frankly surprised me when I moved here because I’ve always thought of places like Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee as the big barbecue spots in America.

Toms River East Little League Ready To Be Champions Again

in Toms River News

Neither rain nor 46-degree temperatures prevented the Toms River East Little League from celebrating its storied history with an Opening Day parade and festivities.

“The rain didn’t bother us,” league president Tommy Noone said prior to the event. “In the last 20 years, it has rained 18 times. We’re used to it. It would not be an opening without rain.”

Headlining the parade were the league’s championship 50/70 13U and 60/90 14U All-Star teams of last summer. Hundreds of members, led by Todd Frazier, who powered the Toms River East American Little League All-Star team to the 1998 Little League World Series title, marched. Hidden under umbrellas and attired in rain gear, hundreds of fans lined Windsor Avenue, the league’s location, enjoying their idols.

More states join NJ with humorous highway signs

in Toms River News

It appears New Jersey isn’t alone after all when it comes to those humorous safety road signs. Although, it does feel like New Jersey for some reason gets in trouble with the federal government over them quite a bit.

Whatever it is, our state keeps finding ways to get them back up, and it’s awesome. So awesome, in fact, that other states seem to be joining the fun with their own sense of humor.
