Millions in Zero-Interest Loans to Reproductive Healthcare Facilities in NJ

Following the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision overturning Roe v. Wade and other states implementing restrictions on and even criminalizing reproductive health care, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), in partnership with the New Jersey Health Care Facilities Financing Authority (HCFFA), is offering zero-percent interest, forgivable loans to family planning providers seeking to make facility upgrades for security or to deliver care to more patients.

A total of $6,076,438 was approved by the HCFFA’s board for 15 applicants in the first round of this loan program.

These 21 Jersey Shore school districts are receiving much needed stabilization aid in New Jersey

There are many school districts across Ocean County and Monmouth County who’ve been bearing the brunt of the controversial S2 school funding formula cuts by the state for years that are now receiving some aid to help stabilize their ship.

In late December, the New Jersey Department of Education announced that they approved $29,650,000.00 in funding for 42 school districts who have been cut state aid yearly since 2018.

Of the 42 school districts across New Jersey who are going to be receiving stabilization aid from the state, 21 are located between Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

N.J. weather: Record-warm temperatures making it feel more like spring than winter

New Jersey got a little taste of spring fever Wednesday afternoon, even though the calendar claims it’s still early winter.

Thanks to warm air flowing in from the southwest, temperatures have soared into the 60s in many areas of the state, and the mercury reached a balmy 70 degrees near Atlantic City, according to preliminary data from the National Weather Service.

If that reading holds up at the end of the day, it will be the warmest Jan. 4 on record at Atlantic City International Airport in the Pomona section of Galloway Township. The current record is 68 degrees, set in 1950.

Kaitlyn Culbert is on a mission to protect and educate the world about the importance of bees. She has her own YouTube channel called Katie’s Adventures in Beekeeping.

While many of us are scared of the insect’s sting, she became fascinated by them at the start of the pandemic when she participated in a research contest for the Army Educational Outreach Program.
