The week ahead holds a lot of potential with sea temperatures in the surf already above 50 degrees and a string of warm, sunny days in the forecast.
There were a lot more anglers out this past weekend at different locales and the variety of fish in the water is increasing.
On Long Beach Island, for example, Fisherman’s Headquarters in Ship Bottom had news of a black drum caught by Jamie Gramley off the mid-Island surf on Sunday. He was fishing clam looking for a striped bass, the shop said. And, Dennis Palmatier at the Hook House in Toms River, got word of a decent blackfish bite in the Point Pleasant Canal. He said George Penn reeled in 4 tog up to 3 ¼ pounds soaking green crabs by the state police station.
