Who are those faces on banners in Toms River? Learn why these veterans were honored
TOMS RIVER – George Howard Glawson Jr. was only 21 when he was killed in Tay Ninh Province in Vietnam in 1971. Charles Fairchild Godfrey was 24 when he was killed in Quang Tri Province in 1970. James W. Harvey II was just 23 when he was killed in Ghazni Province in Afghanistan in 2011.
Now those three servicemen have been honored, along with five other Toms River service members who died fighting for their country, on banners erected along Washington Street by town hall. It’s part of a new township program, “Hometown Heroes.”
